There are forward thinking plans by Rotorua District Council for further developments of the CBD, airport and roads. The Rotorua Airport (8 minute drive from the Lodge) has recently been upgraded to allow
International flights direct from Australia. Flights from other Australian centres are being negotiated.
Proposed city developments will enhance access to the shops and business district and increase passing traffic exposure. If a proposed new arterial road is confirmed, Victoria Lodge will be the
first accommodation provider past the airport.
Rotorua has a population of almost 70,000. It is the premier tourist destination and is visited by 8,500 visitors each day.
